Alex, the man behind the Graph
Where are you from?
Hertfordshire, England. Though I usually just say London as its close and no one knows where Hertfordshire is.
Tell us about your work at Natural Cycles.
I work as a Junior Front end developer, working on improving an already great app.
Why Natural Cycles?
As a developer at the beginning of a career most of the available jobs involved either gambling or extracting money from people through addictive in app purchases. Natural Cycles gave me an opportunity to utilise my skills in a way that helps people rather than harming them.
Your favourite project at Natural Cycles since you started?
So far working on the Graph. It gave me the chance to take a part of the app that the users really get a lot of value from and improve it, giving them a better user experience.
What does it mean to be a good Front end developer?
Teamwork is essential. Writing code that works perfectly is great but if no one can understand it its impossible for the team to continue improving upon it.
What’s one thing you’ve learned during your time at Natural Cycles?
I have learnt more about the female reproductive system and how the menstrual cycle works. This has helped me to better communicate with my long term girlfriend.
What’s your go-to place to eat in Stockholm?
Frunch, its close to the office and they know to serve me quickly before I eat all the bread.
Favourite feature in the Natural Cycles app?
The graph, but thats probably because I made it.
Favourite song?
Anything by “The Last Skylit Night”. Though it is my brothers band and this is just a shameless promotion that their music is available on a popular Swedish music streaming service.
Favourite quote?
Reality leaves a lot to the imagination. – John Lennon (I googled quotes)
Tell us about your hobbies?
I quite enjoy travelling. Particularly visiting different countries’ History museums and seeing how much of it Britain is the villain.
